As a young girl, i never conformed to any stereotypes, and whilst my friends were content to mooch around in Chelsea Girl and C&A, I was always happier rummaging around charity shops, looking for that elusive jewel in the crown. That feeling never left me, and as I got older, I never followed mainstream fashion, but wore what made me happy, even if my own kids sometimes wanted to disown me!
Trading on Ebay, Etsy and other platforms, I had a great network of people around me who supported my drive and determination to succeed, even if it meant involving friends and family freezing in bizarre and unusual locations!
In 2012, tired of working a regular 9-5 job, I formulated a business plan, paid Mr Bank Manager a visit and after securing my first ever bank loan, Bohemian Finds was finally born. It was an emporium of creativity, borne out of a life-long love of vintage and quirky one off individual items.
I love nothing more than to tweak and re-work pre-loved items back to life for those who embraced their individuality… whilst also supporting my second passion, caring for the environment.
I soon realised that the staff are the foundation of any business and in 2016 was delighted to welcome Vicky Stuart into the fold. As a distinguished Blogger, MUA and Plus Size model, Vicky has been a great Ambassador for body positivity.
We are now inseparable and with Vicky’s Vintage Hairstyle and Makeup skills, and my years of retail experience, it’s a winning combination.
We have put on many events over the years to support our plus-size, transgender, LGBTQ and autistic clients. Live window displays were one of our favourite events to host. It was a chance for us to show off our beautiful brands on the people they were made for. We have always used our own clients to model… every shape, size, age, colour and gender is important to us!
Bohemian Finds is proud of its Diversity and Equality and strongly believes that we all have a place in society. From fashion shows, LGBT evenings to Sunday tea afternoons for our transgender, non- binary and gender queer customers, we have forged some great friendships over the years and feel privileged to have been able to bring a little colour and joy into so many lives.
Following COVID-19 however, our store in Market Walk was no longer sustainable and in June we said a nostalgic goodbye to our home of 8 years. Don’t worry though, we are always at the end of the phone or online chat for style and fitting advice, plus we will continue to stock the most popular Vintage Inspired brands on our website.
Watch this space… we have plans to expand our range and we know you are going to love it…
Thank you for taking the time to find out who we are and what makes us tick.
We can’t wait to become part of your lives.
