October 2011
So here we are again…the summer (What Summer?!) over. Well we had a great 10 days in late Sept/Oct, just to remind us what we miss most summers!! I spent the time on reconnaissance missions around trade fairs learning the market and comparing what I do, with others. I found some great bargains and they are soon to appear on the site.
I found some particularly appealing clothing of the 1920’s era. I adore the cloche hats and if you have seen Angelina Jolie in ‘The Changeling’ you will know what I mean. Soft and demure, it’s a shame you cannot buy her looks too!! (Well that’s according to my husband…But I remember Brad Pitt in Meeting Joe Black….Oh dear I digress!)
And if that is one fashion I follow, I love Vivienne Westwood’s bold and evocative stance on the catwalk and Helen Bonham-Carter’s gothic pose. And this isn’t the end of my eclectic menagerie; Kiera Knightley’s 40’s extolling role in Atonement, the hour glass, voluptuous figure of Marilyn Monroe at her 50’s best and the basque, baring bosom (onomatopoeia at its best, I think!), of Ava Gardner. Elizabeth Taylor in the early 60’s could perfect any evening dress…the list goes on.
Vivienne Westwood - not for the faint hearted!
Elizabeth Taylor - the epitome of Hollywood glamour
So Bohemian Finds is now rolling out its Autumn Collection and soon much of the Summer Collection will be available in our massive ‘Sale’ clearance. To introduce the Autumn Collection we are to have a viewing in Northampton on October 19th. All welcome, an invitation and details are available here and on the Home page.

I recently went back to my favourite venues of Brick Lane and Spitalfields. And would you Adam and Eve it, the Pearly King of Newham was out with a few of his old China Plates in the Frog and Toad outside the Rub a Dub Dub quaffing a pint of…Fosters!!! Hardly English is it! Anyway this distraction was short lived as the Sirens of vintage clothing cast their spell over me and I was soon immersed in nirvana of the market stalls and shops. I love the Boutique shops too…can’t afford any of it, but it is nice to dream!
I have a picture of a London bus to prove I was there, but I am reliably informed that red, London buses are big in California too. If you haven’t been you must do Spitalfields on a Sunday morning. Unlike Camden Market, it has extremes of pricing from the audacious to the surprising and some of its offerings are exquisite. It really appeals to my fertile imagination. What a place to have a shop!…I’d have to sell my entire stock to pay a month’s rent…Alas perchance to dream!
Back to reality....it will all be on the site soon so take a butchers and if you like it, why not head down to the showing of the collection on October 19th. See you then, and if you don’t make it I will update you on the next blog!
