December 2011
Wow! Six months have passed since Bohemian Finds started trading and I am struggling to keep up with all that is happening…more ashamedly I have failed to keep you up to date with the ins and outs of the fashion world.
I have some thank you's I need to mention. Firstly to Kerry of R Magazine who interviewed me on my new venture with Bohemian Finds. Her fantastic splash appealed to many as I had many enquiries through Facebook. BBC Radio Northants also jumped on the bandwagon as I was interviewed about the growth of the Vintage clothing industry in recent years…it’s incredible what you come up with in the heat of the moment, I was pleased with some reassurance that I did not make a complete ass of myself…but if I did it won’t be the last!!
I have been trekking around the markets of Middle England looking for those gems that I can’t resist, and hope you can’t too!
I showed some of the Vintage collection in Oundle recently after I had rummaged the markets of East and North London…all of these items can be seen on the website.
Interestingly I have been asked by many men, if I do a menswear vintage line. It’s not really my scene. Going by my husband, his entire wardrobe is vintage especially his pants! I explained to him that I did not understand why Men’s underwear was sold in packets of 12, better off in packets of 7 marking each day of the week. He said 12 was highly relevant, January, February, March….!!!! So, as always, pants are men’s first Christmas present….but the idea did provoke thought.
As a consequence, when eyeing the markets, I particularly looked at, new to the website: ‘Gifts For Men.’ I decided to look for some quirky accessories for men…belts, ties, cuff links etc together with some high end quality clothing…trousers, shirts, dress shirts, cummerbunds, bow ties etc all from London’s No. 1 Savile Row ‘Gieves and Hawkes.’

Actually this has nothing to do with marketing my website to the appeal of men, but once again putting my clients (ladies), first. We know that our partners moan at us looking at shops or clothing websites; and to counter this we let them watch the football on the telly or go up the pub with the boys! So to buy them something different, with quality, panders to the premise they feel indulged!!! Have a look and I will gauge the interest.
Have to run now as I have just realised that for all my considered, innovative ideas I haven’t actually put ‘Gifts for Men’ on the website and it is Dec 13th with less than 2 weeks of shopping left…must do that now…but do not worry. If you feel that the idea is good, but the timing lousy and too late…I will leave it open for a few months and see how it runs.
By the way, I am operating a stall outside John Lewis’ in Milton Keynes on March 3/4 in the 2012 but more of that plugged in my next blog instalment!
Hope you enjoy a really festive Christmas and New Year.
Love on yer! Gretchen xx

The famous Gieves & Hawkes store situated on
No. 1 Savile Row, London
Gieves & Hawkes was formed from two famous businesses: Gieves, founded in 1785 and Hawkes, founded in 1771. Each welcomed a passing parade of famous customers whose names would fill a book. The magnificent full dress occasions of British State Ceremonial have been embellished and enriched by their craftsmen’s skills, and overseas monarchs and leaders have looked upon Gieves & Hawkes to meet their own exacting requirements.
OK, what's not to like about scrumptious Brad Pitt. Yes of course, i'm talking about his clothes!
Not everyone's cup of tea, but Johnny Depp certainly has his own unique style

Colin Firth certainly knew how to wear his Tailcoat to dramatic effect as women still swoon over his iconic Victorian image.
